Tips To Choose the Right Catering Company for Your Party

It is important to choose the right caterer if you want to appear as a good host of any party. Good food and good service are two very important things to look for in the caterer.

Showing Interest in Your Catering Needs

How eager and interested the caterer seems during the initial contact is quite a glimpse into how the company will perform at the party. This is something that every person looking for a caterer should keep in mind. Most popular function venues offer you catering as well.

Most of the caterers will claim to have the best food quality made using the top-grade and fresh ingredients. They will also claim to be the most cost-effective. However, their interpersonal skills, including how they handle your emails and calls, indicate how they will treat the guests at the party. If the caterer seems to be eager to meet your needs, they will also be willing to provide the best services at the party.

Capability to provide catering to your type of party

Not all the parties are the same and not all caterers are fit for all types of parties. In fact, a good caterer will always admit if they do not have the expertise or experience in a particular field. If you are throwing a party in the courtyard with just a bunch of guests, your catering needs will not be much demanding. On the other hand, if you are throwing a big party at a farmhouse, where you have planned to invite nearly a hundred guests, you will need a better caterer. For even larger arrangements such as corporate parties, where there could be thousands of people, you will need the caterer with experience to handle a large volume.

Flexibility with the menu

Just about every caterer out there, big or small, has the standard menu in place, which most of the clients are happy to stick to. However, not all the clients want the same stuff, at least not all the time. Some of them want to introduce new things at parties. Therefore, a good caterer should always be flexible with the menu and offer customised options besides the standard ones. Thankfully, a lot of good caterers in Melbourne these days are willing to go beyond the set menu and offer new and exciting food items. Some of awesome options you could use as menu variants are canape catering menu, corporate party menu, wedding and party catering etc.

Willingness to offer samples

If you are hiring a particular caterer for the first time, besides the hearsay, you have nothing to substantiate that they actually make good quality food. This is why you would want to sample some of their food items to get the idea. Also, the only way to determine how the items in the menu will taste is by tasting them. A good caterer, who is willing to provide great service, will also always be willing to provide the sample. If the caterer seems reluctant, it is best to go with someone else.

Get references

If you are still not sure how to go about it, it is best to take some references. If you know friends or relatives who recently organized a party and were happy with the catering, you can ask them for the recommendations.

How to Make Gluten Free Bread

Finding gluten free bread that actually tastes good can be such a challenge! Don’t worry Melbourne, we’re here with a great gluten free bread recipe for you to use! Listen up, Melbourne, you can actually have bread back in your diet, despite not eating gluten. Here’s how!

First, you’ll need a Brown Rice Flour Blend. It makes about four cups, you will need:

  • 1 1/3 cups brown rice flour
  • 1 1/3 cups tapioca flour/starch
  • 1 1/3 cups cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon potato flour

Now that you have that all mixed up, it is time to make the actual bread mixture.

Here’s all of the ingredients you’ll need!

  • 4 cups Brown Rice Flour Blend (see above recipe)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon gluten-free egg replacer
  • 1 tablespoon xanthan gum
  • 3 large eggs at room temperature
  • ¼ cup butter at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons cider vinegar
  • 1 package (2¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast (not the INSTANT dry yeast)
  • ½ cup powdered milk

Take 2 8-inch bread pans and spray them with cooking spray.

Add 2 cups warm water to the yeast and stir. Set this aside for now.

Mix xanthum gum, the flour blend, salt, powdered milk, and the egg replacer together, then set aside.

Put the butter, eggs, honey, and vinegar together and mix for about 30 seconds. This is best done with a hand mixer.

Add half of the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients that you just mixed. Mix this until blended and then add the rest of the dry ingredients and mix again until blended.

Keep the mixer on a low power and slowly pour in the yeast mixture and warm water, then turn the mixer up to medium or high power and keep mixing for 4 minutes. (The dough should look like thick cake batter after this.)

Place the dough in your greased bread pans. If you want to smooth the top, dip your fingers in water first and then smooth the top. Set aside the pans in a warm place so they can rise, do this for about 50 or 60 minutes. Go ahead and preheat your over to 375 degrees. For refrigeration after you make the bread, we recommend Snowcool Australia as a recommended partner.

Once the dough has risen about an inch over the top of the pan, put them in the oven on the middle rake. Bake for about 45-55 minutes, or when the bread’s temperature internally is 200 degrees.

Once it is done, let it cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove them and let them cool on a rack.  Once the break is completely cool, you can cut the bread. Be careful not to press too much or the bread will lose its shape. If you dont want to wait, just head straight to a gluten free bakery near you…
